Dr. Adam Plescia
It wasn’t long after he arrived to begin his Ph.D. work at the Catholic University of America that his passion and enthusiasm for the city found its expression in leading tours throughout the nation’s capitol. That enthusiasm begins with the rich political and cultural history of the city and its past inhabitants, but it also extends to the city life in the present. What was once a part-time job during doctoral studies has now developed into both a passion and a profession. He has guided hundreds of families as well as student groups through Washington, DC. He still teaches biblical studies courses at a nearby seminary. When he is not guiding or teaching, Adam can be found kiteboarding on the Chesapeake Bay, Cape Hatteras, or wherever the wind is blowing.
Adam has been guiding tours in and around Washington, DC since 1999. He holds a Ph.D. in Biblical Studies from the Catholic University of America. He is a licensed tour guide in the District of Columbia, and he is a member of the Guild of Professional Tour Guides of Washington, DC.
On tour Adam brings to bear his skills as a teacher. His tours are well researched and historically accurate. At the same time, he weaves in humor, anecdotes, and trivia. He is a versatile and easygoing guide who is capable of working with groups of all types and every age. Those who have been on tour with him find comfort in his calm and competent demeanor. But calm doesn’t mean boring! He is a skillful story teller and speaker who is able to make the city come to life.
“Adam, our tour guide, was very well informed and entertaining. Our driver made sure he was always close by so that time was not wasted. We saw everything we wanted to see plus more. Worth every cent. A must do when you go to Washington DC.”
“Adam, the tour guide, met us at the hotel and after a few minutes of preparation off we went. We saw and stopped at all the major sights and monuments. He was great with our grandson and even awarded him with a prize at the end of the tour. For my money, this was the best way to see Washington! Good people, good times and well worth it! We will definitely call when we return with the next grandson!”
“We took the night tour of the monuments. Our guide, Adam, was awesome. It rained at the start of the tour, but the tour was still was worth it because of the rainbow it created right over the building. We got some awesome pictures. Thank you, Adam, for the treat you gave us that we are sworn to secrecy about.”
