Civil War Battlefield Tours / Gettysburg

Our most popular day trip to a Civil War historical site is to the Gettysburg Battlefield, which is a 90-minute drive from downtown DC.

We recommend Gettysburg for those who have never visited a Civil War battlefield before. However, a number of historical sites related to the Civil War and the Revolutionary War are short drives from Washington and well worth the trip. Options within 2 hours of downtown, DC include: Manassas (45 minutes), Monocacy  (60 minutes), Chancellorsville (75 minutes), Antietam  (90 minutes), Harpers Ferry (90 minutes).

Any of these options are also perfect for locals who want an expert to enlighten them about places and things they pass by on a regular basis. With any specialty tour, advance notice of several months or more is preferable since time is needed for planning and to schedule one of our battlefield specialty guides who are few in number and are high in demand. Nevertheless, even if you’re about to come to town, or you’ve already arrived in DC, do not hesitate to contact us to see what can arrange last minute. These tours take place outside the city and out in the open where social distancing can be easily practiced.
