The first step is to contact us either by phone or email. We’d love to talk to you about what you’d like to see and customize a special tour package to suit your needs. From there, we can discuss pricing and options available for your tour. Once you decide to book with us, a 25% deposit is required, and full payment is due no less than 14 days prior to the tour. If you schedule a tour less than 14 days in advance, full payment is due at the time of booking.
Tours may be cancelled up to 14 days before your scheduled tour in order to receive a full refund, minus the cost of non-refundable tickets to attractions and transportation fees. Cancelations made less than 14 days prior to the tour will not be refunded.
If we have to cancel a tour due to the threat of severe weather, we will do our best to reschedule your tour or offer you a full refund, minus any non-refundable ticket and transportation fees.
Because our tours are customized to meet your needs, we cannot possibly offer everything online. We take time to speak to you to learn about your needs and make your trip as enjoyable as possible without all the worry of trying to get around the city. We also need to make sure we have expert and certified staff available on the date of your tour. As our expert staff is in demand, they tend to book up early which means that booking your tour as early as possible is highly recommended. At the same time, we are able to book stellar tours last minute!
We recommend that you book your tour as far in advance as possible, especially for specialty and multi-day tours as well as for larger groups. As a general rule, least two weeks in advance is common, but we are sometimes able to accommodate last-minute requests, even with only 24 hours notice.
We can customize a tour of any length, from a brief city highlights tour (note: 3 hours is our minimum charge for most tours) to multiple-day tours.
We begin your private tour wherever it is most convenient for you. It could be at your hotel, or perhaps a restaurant, the airport, Union Station, Metro station, a private residence, an Airbnb, etc. We handle the drop off the same way– whatever place is best for you!
No. All our tours are strictly private. We do not combine individual participants and small groups into larger groups.
All sightseeing tour guides are required by DC law to obtain a professional license. Some tour companies are challenging this law, and others employ drivers who are not required to have a guiding license. We only hire experienced and professional licensed guides.
All of our guides are members of the Guild of Professional Tour Guides of Washington DC. This means that they’ve had extensive training, testing and experience, and they all adhere to a specialized code of ethics. For more information on the testing and training, please visit washingtondctourguides.com.
